Woodland Hills in Utah County

The City of Woodland Hills is located in Utah County. It is part of the Provo–Orem Metro Area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 941 people, 500 households and 207 families residing in the city. There were 229 housing units. The racial makeup of the town was 97.24% White, 0.21% African American, 0.21% Native American, 0.11% Asian, 1.28% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.44% of the population.

There were 220 households out of which 55.5 % had children under the age of 18 living with them, 90.9 % were married couples living together, 2.3 % had a female householder with no husband present, and 5.9 % were non-families. 3.6 % of all households were made up of individuals and 0.5 % had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 4.28 and the average family size was 4.44.

In the town the population was spread out with 43.6 % under the age of 18, 8.1 % from 18 to 24, 23.0 % from 25 to 44, 18.4 % from 45 to 64, and 7.0 % who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 101.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $80,854, and the median income for a family was $82,358. Males had a median income of $66,042 versus $32,361 for females. The per capita income for the town was $25,184. About 2.6 % of families and 3.0 % of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.2 % of those under age 18 and 5.7 % of those age 65 or over.

Utah County is located in northern Utah and is surrounded by six other counties of Tooele, Wasatch, Juab, Sanpete, Carbon, and Duchesne. Although Utah County lies about 20 miles south of Salt Lake City, the county is not part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Area. Rather, Utah County forms the Provo-Orem Metropolitan Statistical Area, which makes the county a major center of business, culture, education, shopping, and recreation in the state of Utah.

Most of the residential communities of Utah County are located in Utah Valley, an area east of Utah Lake and west of the Wasatch Mountains. This Utah Valley region consists of rapidly growing suburban communities in a scenic environment. The areas west of Utah Lake are mostly rural, but include several growing communities surrounded by Lake Mountains and Oquirrh Mountains. Many of Utah County's communities are located at high altitudes of several thousand feet above sea level. One of the most famous mountains in the county is the beautiful Mount Timpanogos, overlooking many of the suburban communities. Interstate 15 cuts right through the Utah Valley, allowing convenient road access for most of the county's communities locally, as well as up north to Salt Lake City.

Utah County paints the image of a modern and rapidly growing suburban communities, with an array of new homes, parks, schools, recreational facilities, businesses, infrastructures, and much more. The light colored buildings surrounded by green foliage, mountains and Utah Lake create a stunning atmosphere that's present through most of Utah County.

According to the U.S. census of 2000, Utah County has a population of more than 368,000 people, and is rapidly growing. The county has a total area of 2,141 square miles with 143 square miles of water.

Utah County is home to more than 35 total communities, many of them cities and towns, with some unincorporated areas. The county seat is Provo, the largest city in the county and third largest city in Utah with a population of over 117,000 people. Additional large cities in Utah County include Orem, the sixth largest city in the state of Utah with over 84,000 residents.

The most notable geographical feature of Utah County is Utah Lake, largest natural freshwater lake in Utah covering 96,900 total acres right in the middle of the county. Utah Lake is a major recreational area in the county, offering water sports, including boating, sailing, water skiing, and fishing. The main marina for Utah Lake is located in Utah Lake State Park.
